Nicole and Matt are one of the coolest couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with. They are so easy-going, relaxed, and fun. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding later this summer. Nicole and Matt grew up in the same home town, lost touch…and later reconnected at a party hosted by a mutual friend (which was trailer park boys themed). They told me the story of their engagement when we had our first meeting, which was one of the most raw, adorable and real engagement stories I’ve heard yet. They were travelling in Iceland with two other friends and woke up extremely early to visit a hot springs/mountain that would be taken over by tons of tourists a few hours later. On their way back down Nicole wanted to pick a rare plant that she learnt about in college (she studied Environmental Science). Matt knew this was the moment to propose, so he wanted to put his bags down (they were pretty close to the car anyways..). This resulted in a little argument..discussing why the bags needed to be put down. Eventually Matt just went for it and proposed…in Iceland… what a gorgeous backdrop. They eventually got matching tattoos on their arms to remember that magical day (which you can see in some of the photos!)
I had such a great time exploring Nicole & Matt’s neighbourhood in the East End of Toronto.. I’m a West End gal myself and don’t end up this way often. We stopped by some of their favourite graffiti murals, tried to go to Riverdale Farm (it was closed), stop for coffee in an adorable local shop, and went to the lookout at Riverdale Park while the sun was setting. It was so much fun, and I’m so excited to share these photos.
