August 12th, 2017
Northview Gardens, Peterborough
Nicole & Matt are one of the coolest couples I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so far. When we did their engagement shoot in March I had the best time grabbing coffee and drinks, and exploring the East End with them. They graciously invited me into their home and even gave me a sneak peek of something they were preparing for their wedding.
Fast forward to August and we have probably the craziest weather you could imagine. Bright sunny rain showers, dark clouds looming over head. Everything worked out (almost perfectly though). As their friends and family were arriving for the ceremony it started raining the most refreshing rain and gorgeous sun. And it stopped just in time for Nicole to walk down the aisle. Their ceremony was full of laughter, some tears (all happy) and was officiated by someone extremely special. A lawyer that worked with Nicole’s mom for 15 years before being called to be a judge. He still had the note that she had written him in hopes that he wouldn’t forget her after leaving the firm he worked with her mom at. Their ceremony concluded with a little handshake and sealed it with a kiss. It was an absolutely perfect way for these two to make it official. The rest of the day was a whirlwind, with it absolutely pouring for a good 20 minutes and cutting into our portrait time. The upside of this was that we got a gorgeous rainbow, and some memorable photos from something so unique and gorgeous on a wedding day.
The reception itself was a blast, with so many fun activities during the dinner. Instead of a first dance Nicole & Matt prepared to perform a song together. It was ‘We’re Going To Be Friends’-The White Stripes. It was one of the most precious things I’ve ever seen a couple do instead of a first dance and I think everyone in attendance would agree with me.
We finished off the night with Karaoke, dancing, and sparklers just as it started to rain again. It was a perfect celebration of love.
